Well the chicks were there at 09.15. The box is empty now, 09.40. Over the last day the chicks have been looking outside and thinking about the big wide world. I think one chick went earlier this morning but the confusion in the nestbox made it difficult to be certain. Definitely four chicks fledged. There may have been a fifth. All over till next year.

The chicks have started flying practice!! There is a feather stuck on the webcam lens which makes viewing a little difficult. There may be up to five chicks.

The adults have removed the dead chick and a clearer view of the nest bowl showed three distinct chicks.

One of the adult birds seen removing a chick from the nest bowl. When the adult had left there was another body by the entrance hole. Would now say that there were possibly only two chicks left. The attrition rate this year has been high.

Looks like there have been two casualties this evening. Two bodies outside the nest by the entrance hole.

Rachel, there were at least ten eggs. So as they have all hatched there could be up to ten. I have seen nine beaks and there was enough space for another chick. We will just have to wait until they are a little bigger.

Monday 22nd May. Yesterday evening, the bird was very restless and hadn't settled on the nest by 22.30. She left the nest at 06.45 this morning to reveal that the eggs had hatched. We should begin to see Dad soon.

I like your website because ... Sunday 15.05.06. It looks like the last of ten eggs was laid on Friday 13.05.06. She is now incubating the eggs, regularly turning them with great diligence.

The cameras are up and running again for the new year. Hopefully there should be no wireless interference and I may even find a colour camera for inside the box.
